X.509 certificate
A public-key certificate standard. Contains the subject's public key, identity (Subject + CN + SANs), validity period, and a signature from a CA. Used by TLS, code signing, and email (S/MIME).
How this shows up at NCAE
Regenerating the web server cert with the correct `CN=team<N>.ncaecybergames.org` and including the SAN is how you fix WWW SSL failures. `openssl x509 -noout -dates` shows expiry.
